Rehman turned out for Pakistan in 22 Test matches, 31 one-day internationals and eight Twenty20 Internationals between 2006 and 2014, picking up 140 wickets overall.

Abdur Rehman's international record

Format Matches Wickets Average Best
Tests 22 99 29.39 6 for 25 [BBM: 8/92]
ODIs 31 30 38.06 4 for 48
Twenty20s 8 11 17.45 2 for 7

Of the 99 wickets he picked up in Test cricket, the 19 he got against England during Pakistan’s 3-0 series sweep at ‘home’ in the United Arab Emirates in 2012 remain memorable.

In that series, his spin twin Saeed Ajmal picked up 24 wickets to top the chart, and win the Player of the Series award, while Rehman finished only behind Ajmal in the list.

Rehman, born in Sialkot, made his domestic debut in 1997-98 for Habib Bank Limited, and got his first shot at international cricket in an ODI against the Windies in Faisalabad in 2006, picking up 2/20 in 10 overs.

The Test debut came just under a year later, when he played South Africa in Karachi and was his team’s most successful bowler, picking up four wickets in each innings even as South Africa won by 160 runs.

Rehman hasn’t been in the fray for the national team for a while now, but has continued to add to his fantastic domestic numbers. He currently has 640 wickets from 179 first-class matches, and 237 wickets from 169 List A appearances.
