Qatar's school programme is a hit
Qatar's schools tournament, which has run in various modes over the years is becoming an increasingly substantial presence. An U-14 Boys School Cricket Tournament has been running for six weeks, ending in May. 12 schools are taking part.
15 officials and 25 volunteers are administering the event and it is hoped that next year 16 teams will take part. The best players will be selected for future ACC U-16 events. Qatar Cricket Association General Secretary Manzoor Ahmad says "this Tournament has become a remarkable cricket event because of good participation and cooperation from schools as well as keen interest from school Children which give us encouragement to develop cricket in Qatar."
