Race for top bowler ranking hots up following rankings reshuffle
Star England spinner Sophie Ecclestone is still rated as the No.1 ranked T20I bowler, but her team-mate Sarah Glenn has reduced her lead at the top following the latest set of rankings.
The ICC updated the women’s player rankings on Tuesday and there was a host of movement in the T20I ranks following the opening game of the series between England and India.
England cruised to an impressive nine-wicket triumph over India at Chester-le-Street to commence the series and Glenn was the star performer in that clash as she claimed four valuable wickets and the Player of the Match award.
Ecclestone failed to pick up a wicket in the same match, with Glenn jumping to second place on the T20I bowler rankings and within 13 rating points of her team-mate following her eye-catching effort.
Fellow Englishwoman Katherine Brunt drops to third on the list for bowlers after she was rested for the series, while India spinner Deepti Sharma drops one place to seventh after she too went wicket-less in that match.
Deepti did fare better in the batter rankings, with the veteran moving up three spots to equal 33rd after she top-scored for India with an unbeaten 29 against England.
England all-rounder Sophia Dunkley top-scored for the winners with 61 and she rose 13 spots to 44th on the list for batters, while team-mate Alice Capsey jumped 12 places to 52nd following an unbeaten 32.
There was no change inside the top 10 for batters, with Australia duo Beth Mooney (first) and skipper Meg Lanning (second) currently occupying the top two spots on that list.
The list for all-rounders also remains relatively unchanged, with Kathryn Bryce dropping one spot to seventh after she missed out on Scotland's second T20I match against Ireland in Edinburgh.
