Records galore as Jaiswal, Bumrah light up Vizag Test
Jasprit Bumrah completed 150 Test wickets while Yashasvi Jaiswal made a historic double hundred on Day Two of the Vizag Test.
On a crucial day of the Vizag Test match, India edged ahead with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jasprit Bumrah leading the way.
Jaiswal starred with a brilliant double hundred, becoming the third youngest Indian to make a men's Test double century after Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar. Notably, Mithali Raj made a women's Test double century aged 19.
Jaiswal's 209 was the lone shining light for India as none of the other Indian batters made more than 35 runs.
Bowled out for 396, India were countered by Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett going all guns blazing, but once the initial flood of runs died down, Jasprit Bumrah came to the fore. He ran through the England line-up with an exceptional spell of fast bowling, the highlight of which was a searing inswinging yorker to Ollie Pope that uprooted two stumps.
Ben Stokes' valiant resistance was also brought to an end by Bumrah, who completed a six-wicket haul and also crossed the barrier of 150 Test wickets.
Bumrah became the quickest Indian fast bowler to 150 Test wickets, achieving the feat in 34 Test matches.
His bowling average of 20.29 is now the second-best in the history of Test cricket among fast bowlers to take at least 150 wickets.
