Positives to take home
It was a chance for Thailand to build on their win over Sri Lanka in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. They faltered in the group stage, losing all three games, but they picked up their game after that with wins over UAE and Uganda, who they had lost to earlier.

Lifting their game in the play-offs was impressive from Thailand, especially the way they bowled UAE out for 50 and then scored 113/7 against Uganda. For an improving side, it was positive, as were the batting performances from Nattaya Boochatham and Nattakan Chantam at various stages. Boochatham also picked up crucial wickets during the course of the tournament.

Areas to improve
As they play more and more in the higher levels, Thailand will want to put together complete team performances, which they lacked, especially against the teams ranked higher than them. Failing to top 100 in any of their three games, too, would be a cause for concern.

Rising starNannapat Koncharoenkai: The 17-year-old wicket-keeper batter didn’t set the stage on fire, but was among the more consistent performers for Thailand, scoring 6, 22, 22, 12* and 17 to aggregate 79 runs at an average of 19.75.
