Positives to take home
The big positive was Immaculate Nakisuuyi, the all-rounder who was part of most things good by the Uganda team in the tournament. When Uganda beat Thailand in their group game, Nakisuuyi returned 2/8 and top scored with 21 from No.6. Similarly, in the win over the Netherlands later, she picked up 1/13 and scored 27, though she was overshadowed by Getrude Candiru, who scored a 42-ball 43*. Uganda have been good in patches, and will look to perform well for longer periods than they have here.

Areas to improve
Batting has been Uganda’s weak link. They were bowled out for 43 against Scotland, took 18.1 overs to cross Thailand’s 67/9 in the second game, and managed only 78/8 against Ireland. The performance against the Netherlands was a solid one, but again against Thailand in the last game, they put up only 79/8 while chasing 114.

Rising star **** Getrude Candiru: While Nakisuuyi is clearly the team’s star, the innings Candiru played against the Netherlands showed her class, and feel for the big stage. She had scored 15* in the earlier win over Thailand too, and will look for some more consistency than she has shown so far.
