Skerritt beat Cameron, who was in the role for six years, by an 8-4 margin of votes in the elections conducted through secret ballot. St Vincent & The Grenadines Cricket Association president Dr Kishore Shallow also defeated Cameron's deputy Emmanuel Nathan by the same margin to take over as vice-president.

"I am humbled and deeply honoured to be elected as president. We pledge to work for improvement on and off the field for West Indies Cricket," Skerritt said after the election.

Echoing Skerritt's sentiments, Dr Shallow added, "I am grateful and humbled by the support of the members of the territorial board. This is a victory for West Indies Cricket."

Former president Cameron expressed his thanks along with Nathan for all the support they received during their tenures.

"We were glad to be able to serve and proud of our achievements. We are happy that we left 123 players under contract. The world championships and bringing back the Wisden Trophy are also other achievements that we are proud of. More than anything else we have a fit youthful team that is prepared to face the world," they both said in a joint statement.

"Under this team we made significant strides and you trusted us to safeguard the region’s most valuable asset. The tenure was rewarding and full of challenges and we feel proud we have managed to take the cricket to this level."

Cameron and Nathan served the cricket board for 17 and 15 years, respectively. Cameron was appointed as the president in 2013 and served two terms of three years each. He had taken over from the then president Julian Hunte and continued to hold the post since then. Before that, Cameron was the vice-president of the board.

"We anticipate the sport will move towards its true potential and we ask the new team to build upon the progress and to continue to fight for equity in world cricket," they further added.

The election proceedings were done under the watch of international audit firm KPMG.
