Post Match Media Conference

Pakistan - 95/4, Netherlands - 91/9

THE MODERATOR: Thank you for joining us for this post match press conference. We're joined by Netherlands player Scott Edwards.

Q. Was that a bit of an initiation in terms of the pitch. It was obviously fast and bouncy. How difficult was that to handle?

SCOTT EDWARDS: We knew it was going to be fast and bouncy going in. It didn't play as fast and bouncy as we expected, I think, which obviously caught us off guard. Obviously they've got a world class bowling lineup with four guys that bowl over 140.

Yeah, just disappointing that we couldn't negotiate it.

Q. Any update on Bas? Obviously a pretty tough play there to the face?

SCOTT EDWARDS: Yeah, it's cut his cheek open a bit. Seems to be okay, but we'll be monitoring him. Hopefully he's good to go for the next game.

Q. What was that like seeing that happen, and then the guys have to come in after that knowing they might face something pretty similar?

SCOTT EDWARDS: Guys get hit in the head all the time. It's not ideal that -- it's not good that it got through so it cut him. But, yeah, when you play professional cricket, you're always going to come up against guys that bowl fast.

Q. Hi, Scott. I think one feature of the Dutch batting lineup of late has been the boundaries drying up in the middle overs. Today we saw it was also in the power play. It's not just in the T20 but also in the ODI Super League. What do you put it down to, and how has the team addressed that issue of late?

SCOTT EDWARDS: It's definitely an issue, I suppose with the bigger boundaries in Australia. Yeah, that's not an excuse. I think we're losing wickets at times, which is meaning we can't get partnerships together, and we feel like we're always sort of rebuilding.

Yeah, it's not ideal, but it's something we've got to address and hopefully come back and fix that in the next couple of games.

Q. And looking forward to the next game against Zimbabwe, they've been playing some good cricket. What's the focus going to be on, and how do you need to improve as a team?

SCOTT EDWARDS: I think we've played a fair bit of cricket against Zimbabwe. Yeah, just hoping to put a better performance together. Our batting hasn't got firing all tournament, which has been really disappointing. Hopefully these last two games we can put some decent scores on the board and make a good count for ourselves.

Q. Scott, my question is that it was hard luck for the match. And congratulations for the brilliant catch you took off of Fakhar Zaman. My question is how the team will go ahead with what mindset into the tournament? Now after you have three consecutive losses. Are you able to enjoy the tournament and get maximum learnings after that?

SCOTT EDWARDS: Obviously it's pretty much impossible to make the semifinals now. For us it's just about winning these last two games of cricket.

Yeah, we're still here to compete and win those games. As I said, hopefully put a good account for ourselves in Dutch cricket moving forward.

Q. So is there any update on Bas? He was injured during the match. Is there any update on Bas? Will he be available for the next match or not?

SCOTT EDWARDS: Yeah, I answered that before. Hopefully he's available, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Q. Given the way this match turned out, were you surprised that Pakistan lost the first two matches?

SCOTT EDWARDS: Obviously they're a good cricket side. They went close against India in a good game. They probably didn't bring it against Zimbabwe, but they're obviously a class unit, and they'll probably go well throughout the tournament.

Yeah, T20 cricket can go up and down. So hopefully for us, it goes up in these next couple.
