Shakib Al Hasan ruled out of Nidahas Trophy
Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh Twenty20 International captain, has been ruled out of the upcoming Nidahas Trophy triangular T20I series in Sri Lanka after failing to recover in time from a hand injury he picked up earlier this year.
Mahmudullah, who led the T20I team during the two-match series at home against Sri Lanka in February, which Bangladesh lost 2-0, will resume captaincy duties for the tournament also involving India. Liton Das, the wicket-keeper batsman, has been named as Shakib’s replacement in the squad.
Shakib injured his left hand during the final of the one-day international tri-series at home against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January, and has been out of action since.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had initially named him in the squad for the Nidahas Trophy but confirmed on Saturday 3 March that the Bangladesh star, ranked No. 2 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Rankings for T20I all-rounders, wouldn’t be available.
Shakib, who has featured in 61 T20Is, has 1223 runs against his name, along with 73 wickets and is one of the most sought-after players in the format worldwide.
The tournament, being hosted to celebrate 70 years of Sri Lanka's independence, will be held in Colombo from 6-18 March.
