Nasum finds a place in the squad after doubts on whether skipper Shakib Al Hasan will be fit enough to bowl in the second Test in Dhaka. Shakib bowled only 12 overs in the first innings of the first Test in Chattogram, while not bowling at all in the second innings. Bangladesh lost the first Test by 188 runs, now trailing 1-0 in the two-match series.

In their efforts to level up the scores, Bangladesh have included Nasum in the squad, who could well be in line for his Test debut. Nasum has been an impressive performer for the Tigers in the limited-overs format, particularly T20I cricket.

Pacer Ebadot Hossain, who did not bowl in the second innings in Chattogram has also been excluded. The pace department has been further depleted by the absence of Shoriful Islam, who missed the first Test after injuring his hamstring in a training session prior to the match.

Batter Anamul Haque has also been dropped from the squad, while Tamim Iqbal is also absent after failing to recover from his injury.

Nasum has been an impressive performer for the Tigers in the limited-overs format.

Bangladesh will hope that the changes bring about a turnaround in their fortunes, after a heavy defeat in the opening Test. India, on the other hand, will hope to continue their momentum and further strengthen their position in the World Test Championship table. The second Test will be played between 22-26 December in Dhaka.
