Sri Lanka confirm itinerary for World Test Championship series against Pakistan

Pakistan will arrive on 6 July and will play a three-day warm-up game in Colombo ahead of the WTC23 series.

Both the teams have had a mixed results so far in the World Test Championship. Pakistan drew away against West Indies 1-1 before coming back strongly against Bangladesh. They then fell short in the series against Australia, losing 0-1 at home.

Sri Lanka started WTC23 with a brilliant sweep against West Indies at home, but were dished the same treatment by India away. They took the series against Bangladesh 1-0 but have a big challenge ahead of them in the form of table toppers Australia.

The two teams are almost neck-to-neck in the WTC23 standings currently, with Sri Lanka occupying the fourth spot with a point percentage of 55.56 while Pakistan are fifth with 52.38.

However, there could be a lot of changes to the standings before they clash, with Sri Lanka facing Australia in two Tests.

SL v PAK Schedule:

11 to 13 July: Three-day warm-up - Colts, Colombo
16 to 20 July: First Test - Galle International Stadium, Galle
24 to 28 July: Second Test - R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

This will be the first time since 2015 that Pakistan will travel to the shores of Sri Lanka for a Test series. Pakistan emerged 2-1 victors in a series and did it in some style. With the series tied 1-1, Pakistan chased down a mammoth 377 in the fourth innings to take the series, which is still their highest successful chase in Test cricket history.
