Sri Lanka set to hand ODI debut to exciting all-rounder against West Indies

Sri Lanka have named their squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International series against West Indies.

The Sri Lanka selectors have picked the exciting all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe for the three-match One Day International series against West Indies, which begins on Sunday.

Wickramasinghe has played two T20Is for Sri Lanka, including the opening match of the recent series against the Caribbean tourists, with Sri Lanka winning the series 2-1.

The 22-year-old is a handy right-arm pace bowler and bats left handed, and he has a series of strong performances in the Lankan Premier League behind him.

And Wickramasinghe’s inclusion means that Chamika Karunaratne remains on the outside for Sri Lanka, with the experienced all-rounder not having played for the country in any format since November 2023.

Charith Asalanka continues as captain in a squad that contains a host of spin options, including Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage and Jeffrey Vandersay.
