Stop 5: Dhaka
TheICC Champions Trophy 2017 Nissan Trophy Tour, which was launched in Dubai in February, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday (March 18).
The fans were out in large numbers at the Centre Court of Jamuna Future Park Shopping Mall on Progati Sarani to marvel at the trophy up close. Selfies were par for the course and the excitement was palpable.
Habibul Bashar, who captained Bangladesh when it last appeared in the tournament in 2006, was present on Sunday. He also shared his thoughts, and held the trophy aloft to give Bangladesh fans a taste of what could be if the national team goes all the way this year.
The trophy was then taken to an iconic location in Dhaka for a photo shoot before it made a special appearance at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials as well as members of the national team were present.
UNICEF Bangladesh also hosted a children's event as part of its Cricket for Good initiative with the ICC.
