Team preview: Pakistan
They have been drafted into a difficult group in the tournament, where they will face off against Australia, India, New Zealand and Ireland.
The team have the talent and experience to make a significant impact, though, but they must play like a cohesive unit to challenge the more obvious tournament favourites. Strong returns from veterans like Bismah Maroof, Sana Mir, Javeria Khan and Nahida Khan will be key to their success in the Caribbean.
Pakistan are currently at No.7 in the MRF Tyres ICC Women's T20I Team Rankings and will have to up their game significantly to top their best WWT20 campaign – in 2016, when they beat India and Bangladesh to finish third in their group.
Strengths
When it comes to the bowling department, Pakistan have some of the best in the business in their ranks.
Left-arm spinner Anam Amin and off-spinner Nida Dar are among the top bowlers in the world. And former captain Sana Mir, who recently topped the MRF Tyres ICC Women's ODI Rankings for bowlers, will bring a bundle of experience to the campaign.
Pakistan's best chance of going deep into this tournament is in getting their bowlers to take the lead and restrict oppositions to below-par totals and then asking the batters to do the job.
Weaknesses
The fact that Pakistan have no player in the Top 15 of the rankings for batters is a sign of concern. There is experience there, particularly in the form of Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof, who are both inside the top 25, and Nahida Khan.
A lot will depend on the form of former skipper Maroof, who comes into the side after recovering from a sinus surgery. She played in the last Twenty20 international against Australia in October but has not had a lot of match practice going into the tournament.
Their ground fielding will also be under scrutiny.
