With his 4/26 against St Lucia Zouks on Sunday, 29 September, Walsh rose to the top of the bowling charts in this edition of the competition, his 15 wickets in five innings coming at an average of 9.80.

Returning to bowl with St Lucia needing 29 runs in 24 balls, he oversaw a collapse from 113/5 to 117 all out. Harry Gurney too flattered his reputation as a death-overs expert, conceding just one run in the 18th over while also taking a wicket to finish with 3/17.

After losing Alex Hales in the first over, the Tridents posted 141/6. Although Johnson Charles top-scored with 47 in 36 balls, the rest of the batsmen found it tricky going at Bridgetown.

Defending a modest target, but with some assistance from the pitch, the bowlers denied St Lucia big partnerships. Gurney got the big wickets of Rahkeem Cornwall and Hardus Viljoen with slower balls, while Shakib Al Hasan sent back Colin Ingram just when he was looking dangerous.

Having brought up the team hundred in the 14th over, St Lucia were on course. However, Walsh, who has had an excellent tournament so far, ran through the rest of the line-up to claim the play-off place.

"All I had to do was relax and do my thing," the spinner said after the game. "I toss it up but it has a lot of revs on it so it's up to you if you want to take a risk. I'm loving every bit of this tournament. It's a dream come true."
