West Indies claim T20I series win against Pakistan

The West Indies elected to bat first after winning the toss and Deandra Dottin (17) went straight to work, slashing a four off her first ball from Diana Baig (1/31). Hayley Matthews (9) chipped in nicely with a boundary of her own as the pair cruised to a 34-run opening stand after four overs.

Just when the West Indies seemed comfortable, Pakistan struck their first wicket through Fatima Sana (2/18), who bowled Dottin for 17 off her first delivery of the match. The visitors piled the pressure on taking the scalps of Matthews and Stafanie Taylor (5) in the following three overs.

The West Indies' crucial partnership came in the form of Chedean Nation (28) and Kycia Knight (30*), who combined for 32 runs. Nation departed in the 18th over courtesy of Anam Amin's (2/31) second wicket of the match, then West Indies pushed through to 125/6 from their 20 overs.

Pakistan came to the crease and were immediately in strife as Javeria Khan (0) was run out by Kyshona Knight with a direct hit on just the fifth ball of the innings.

Iram Javed (15) provided a quick reply for the visitors before there were several halts in play.

In worrying scenes, both Chinelle Henry and Nation collapsed on the field and were taken to hospital.

The covers were also drawn for rain delays, which forced the contest to be decided through the DLS method.

Nida Dar was the pick of the Pakistan batters with 29 off 36 deliveries, including four boundaries.

The West Indies sealed the T20I series 2-0 with the third match to be played on Sunday at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
