White Ferns youngster ruled out for remainder of 2024 due to injury
New Zealand will be without the services of their rising star for the ODI series against Australia.
New Zealand's Georgia Plimmer has been ruled out for the remainder of the year due to a bone stress reaction in her groin.
The 20-year-old experienced pain in her left hip joint during the ODI series in India last month and a subsequent MRI scan and assessments upon return to New Zealand confirmed the injury.
New Zealand Cricket’s statement confirmed that Plimmer will require at least six weeks of rest and rehabilitation before gradually resuming high-speed running in January.

As a result, she will miss the three-match ICC Women's Championship ODI series against Australia at home, which begins on 19 December, as well as domestic competitions in New Zealand.
Plimmer was in sensational form prior to her injury, finishing as New Zealand’s joint-highest scorer (150 runs) alongside Suzie Bates in the White Ferns’ historic ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
Plimmer carried her impressive form into the ODI series against India, delivering consistent performances with scores of 25, 41 and 39 across the three matches.
“We’re really gutted for this to happen to Georgia when she’s at the top of her game,” said White Ferns Head Coach Ben Sawyer.
“She’s certainly a loss for us heading into an important series against Australia.
“After her recent success at the World Cup and in India it’s disappointing she won’t be able to continue that form for the Wellington Blaze and against Australia next month.
“Georgia’s determined to rehab well and get back as soon as she can and we’re wishing her a smooth recovery.”
