Why Thisara Perera should not be ignored in the ICC Dream11 classic mode
With a revamped side, Sri Lanka will look to cause a few upsets in the upcoming ICC Men’s World Cup 2019. Though they are not the contenders for the title, they have a few players who Fantasy users will want to have in their ICC Dream11 team. Thisara Perera’s recent form with both bat and ball, and his ability to get points in either department consistently makes him a great pick in the classic mode.
At only 8.5 credits, the player is one of the best options to go for. He is coming off a stellar 2018, where he picked up 25 wickets at an average of 20.72. The fact that he picked most of these on the slow and dry tracks of the subcontinent further display his class, and with the pitches in England offering slight help to the seamers, Perera could be fancying his chances. He has carried that form into 2019 as well, managing to scalp 7 wickets and though he has been expensive and not as effective, he has made up for it with the skills with the bat.
Batting with a strike rate of 131.45 in 9 games this year, Perera has been one of the most improved cricketers from the nation in the recent past. His defence is tight and he has massively improved on his off-side skills, thus making him an all-rounder batsman. He is Sri Lanka’s highest run-getter in ODIs this year, and with signs of maturity in either department, Perera’s form will go a long way in determining how his team fares in the event.
All-rounders have often been much sought after in the Fantasy teams, due to their skills of getting points with either bat or ball. Though all teams have some stellar all-rounders, Perera is vastly underrated, and while users will want Marcus Stoinis, Andre Russell or Mohammad Nabi in their ranks, the Sri Lankan is capable of walking away with some great performances. Hence, it would be unwise to ignore him.
