'Will always keep a positive attitude' – Sandeep Lamichhane

Lamichhane, the young Nepal leg-spinner, has become a popular pick in Twenty20 leagues around the world. In the last couple of months, he's played for Sylhet Sixers in the Bangladesh Premier League and Melbourne Stars in Australia's Big Bash League. Last year, he became the first player from Nepal to feature in the Indian Premier League and the Caribbean Premier League as well.

Now, the globetrotting teenager is in the United Arab Emirates, aiming to help his national side do well in the one-day internationals against the hosts. He picked up two wickets in the first game, as Nepal fought hard to defend a modest 113.

It's a busy life, but he keeps himself going thanks to a positive attitude, he explained. "I will play with a smile on my face, and face everything," he told The National.

“I will always keep a positive attitude. A lot of things can change, there are always different scenarios, but if you keep a positive attitude, I think there will be a lot of good moments that happen in your life.”

He is aware of how much of an inspiration he is to the cricket-crazy people back home. In fact, where ever he goes, there is a loud Nepal contingent in the ground cheering for him.

“I think it is good news for Nepal cricket. Nepal, too, is getting exposure from me playing in all these different leagues," he said. “And the new generations, as well as the players who are still playing for Nepal, will believe there is something there for them, and that they can play as well.”
