‘Will remember Kohli’s wicket for a very long time’ – Jhye Richardson
Richardson, playing just his fifth ODI, returned a fine 4/26, dismissing Kohli and Ambati Rayudu within three balls in a blistering opening spell to reduce the visitors to 4/3.
He later added the scalps of Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja. His efforts helped Australia secure a comfortable 34-run win, despite Rohit Sharma's 129-ball 133.
Jhye Richardson was superb with the ball as Australia beat India by 34 runs in the first ODI of the series.

Of his four scalps, it was Kohli’s wicket that was memorable. "I was actually a little bit disappointed when the ball came out,” Richardson said of the dismissal. “Probably bowled that a little bit straight, but luckily, there was a fielder there that hung on to it. It’s probably a wicket I’ll remember for a very long time.”
Richardson’s performance has already prompted talk of a possible call-up to the squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.
However, Richardson, who is in the squad only because the ‘Big Three’ of Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are rested, said he wasn’t looking that far ahead.
“My focus is on these two games coming up,” said Richardson. “Justin (Langer, head coach) has said it’s a great opportunity to be able to push your selection (case) for the World Cup
"But we’ve still got a lot of white-ball cricket between now and then. So I think it’ll be for me to concentrate on these two games then if I’m lucky enough to get picked for the next tour, it’ll be concentrating on those games.
"Then if I get picked, I get picked. All I can concentrate on is what’s happening now.”

It’s not just the World Cup that is an incentive for Richardson to continue putting in the performances that he is. There is an Ashes series coming up as well, and Richardson admitted that it was a “dream”.
"That’s the dream, I’d love to play an Ashes tour," he said. “Obviously, if I keep going well then nothing is out of the question. But as I’ve said, my focus is here and now and we’ll go from there.”
