Former coach Darren Lehmann led the way as a group of ex-Australia players showed their approval to Pat Cummins and his teammates.

International stars - both current and former - were watching on as Cummins combined with Nathan Lyon late on the fifth day to guide Australia to a 1-0 series lead over England.

England veteran Joe Root stood out for the home side, with a brilliant century in the first innings of the match and the big wicket of Alex Carey on the final day in Birmingham. The 32-year-old was suitably proud of his side's efforts, despite the loss.

And Australia's women's players - who are preparing for their own Ashes series against England - even took some time out of their busy schedule to show their support to their male counterparts.
