Yorkshire win big as Surrey fold for 66
It’s the business end of the WCSL now, with only a handful of matches left before Finals Day, and Yorkshire gave their chances of joining Western Storm and Loughborough Lightning in the top three a fillip with a dominant performance.
Surrey, without Sarah Taylor and Dane van Niekerk on the day, had come in to the match on the back of a win over Loughborough, but it went pear-shaped for them on the day at York’s Clifton Park.

They were asked to bat, and though Lizelle Lee and Marizanne Kapp scored 13s to take them to 33/2, the going was slow. And once the two were dismissed, no one else got to double-digits.
Katherine Brunt struck the initial blow, sending back Bryony Smith, and Beth Langston (3/14), Delissa Kimmince (2/14) and Katie Levick (2/6) took charge after that as the innings collapsed.

The chase was a straightforward one anyway, and once Beth Mooney got going, the only question was how soon it would be over. The answer was 9.3 overs, and Mooney finished it off with a single off Eva Gray to end on 44*, scored off 30 balls with eight fours.
The result left the points table interestingly poised: Below Storm and Lightning, Surrey have 16 points, followed by Lancashire Thunder on 13, Yorkshire on 11 and Southern Vipers on 10, all of them still with a chance of reaching No.3 by the end of the six remaining games.
