Australia appoint bowling coaches for CWC19, Ashes

Griffith, who played 50 first-class and 54 List A matches in his career, was one of Tasmania's fiercest seamers. He will join the Australian support staff for the World Cup, alongside head coach Justin Langer and batting consultant Ricky Ponting.

"Griffith has worked his way up the coaching ranks since retiring as a player in 2011," said Cricket Australia in a release on Monday, 25 March. "He was appointed the head coach of Tasmania in 2017 and has experience working with the Australian team having previously been an assistant coach on the 2016 tour of the West Indies."

Cooley, who has been brought in for the Ashes, has previously worked as the bowling coach for both Australia and England.

Australia have gone with two coaches since they expect their white-ball and red-ball sides to be preparing in parallel for the two big events in the English summer.

"We reached out to the coaches working in Australian cricket and received expressions of interest from a strong field of candidates and through the process Adam and Troy emerged as the clear standouts for these secondments," explained Belinda Clark, the CA interim executive general manager.

Australia are currently in the middle of a five-match one-day international series against Pakistan, which they lead 2-0.
