Kwekwe, a mining town that’s less than a three-hour drive from Harare, will host two matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018, plus two warm-up games.

The Kwekwe Sports Club is the home ground for the domestic side Mid West Rhinos, for whom Graeme Cremer, the current Zimbabwe captain, turns out.

Only one international match has been played here: back in 2002, half-centuries by Alistair Campbell, Travis Friend and Andy Flower set up a 47-run win for Zimbabwe against Kenya.

The venue has undergone a facelift in preparation for the Qualifier, with the changing rooms and scoreboard among the upgrades.
