Record breakers: Hot streak places sizzling Zimbabwe batter among the stars
Williams extended his stunning scoring streak to three centuries in five innings with 142 in the Super Six opener against Oman, to amass 532 runs in Zimbabwe's first five matches at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023.
With previous scores of 174, 102*, 91 and 23 at the tournament, Williams compiled the third-most runs in five consecutive ODI innings and a total that only sits behind some of the biggest names in the game.
Virat Kohli holds the record with 596 ODI runs for India in a five-innings stretch, with Pakistan’s Babar Azam next best on 537.
Williams’ incredible form continued with a fighting 56 in the loss to Sri Lanka, while he has helped propel the hosts to the brink of qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India as one of several standouts at the tournament in Zimbabwe.
