Orla Prendergast to lead Ireland in the remaining ICC Women's Championship games against Sri Lanka
Ireland women have been forced to make another change at the helm for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The bilateral series began with two T20Is, with both teams winning one game apiece. Ireland, led by a magnificent hundred from Gaby Lewis, pulled off a stunning win in the second game to level the series. In the first ODI, it was Orla Prendergast who helped them pull off a stunning heist.
Prendergast will now also lead the team in the ODIs for the first time following the injury to regular skipper Laura Delany and stand-in skipper Lewis.
Lewis has been forced out of the remainder of the ODI series with a quad strain after leading the team in the first ODI.
All ODIs will be played in Belfast between 16-20 August. Ireland will be looking to lift themselves from the bottom position in the ICC Women's Championship points table. They currently have 2 points from 12 games, whereas Sri Lanka have 20 points from 21 games.
Prendergast will lead the side in the ICC Women’s Championship matches. Meanwhile, Una Raymond-Hoey, who has a low-grade muscle tear, will also miss the ODI series with Sarah Forbes remaining with the squad as cover.
