Buttler and Jordan demolish USA as England reach semi-finals with dominant victory
Both sides needed a win to be in with a chance of making it through to the semi-finals.
England and USA faced off in a decisive Super Eights encounter in Barbados - with both sides still able to qualify for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup semi-finals.
And Jos Buttler's side won so emphatically - by ten wickets - they confirmed their semi-final berth with West Indies and South Africa still to play later on Sunday for the remaining spot from the group.
The USA were 115 all out, with an over remaining - having lost the last five wickets for no runs.
Chris Jordan took four wickets in the 19th over to wrap up the innings, after Adil Rashid had earlier taken two to make him England's joint-highest wicket-taker in Men's T20 World Cups.
And England reached 117 for no loss in just under ten overs, with Jos Buttler hitting an epic 83 not out.
England fell to South Africa last time but with a win over the West Indies under their belts, they had the edge over the USA - who had no wins in this stage as yet but could still have gone through if they won decisively enough today.
England made one change, Chris Jordan replacing Mark Wood, with the USA naming an unchanged line-up.
Toss: England won and elected to field
Rashid rampant
Adil Rashid was England's standout bowler as they restricted the USA top-order. The spinner finished the innings with figures of 2/13 - removing the dual dangers of Nitish Kumar (30 off 24 balls) and captain Aaron Jones (10 off 16).
It came after the host nation made a brisk start to the powerplay before the wickets of Andries Gous (caught Phil Salt, bowled Reece Topley for 8) and Steven Taylor (caught Moeen Ali, bowled Sam Curran for 12) left them on 43/2.
Nitish and Jones looked set fair to form a decent partnership, but Rashid put paid to that, with wickets in successive overs of his spell.
Liam Livingstone also got in on the action, removing Milind Kumar with a great catch from wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.
After that, the USA collapsed from 115/5 to 115 all out, beginning with Curran making amends for what had been a very expensive 18th over, having been hit for two, four and six by Harmeet Singh, drawing him into the reliable hands of Chris Jordan.
Jordan bowled the next over himself, and it was a spectacular one.
First he removed the threatening Anderson with a low full toss that he could direct only to Harry Brook.
Then came his hat-trick - taking out Muhammad Ali-Khan's off stump, hitting Nosthush Kenjige's shin, and sending Saurabh Netravalkar's middle stump flying to conclude an amazing feat plus the USA innings, with figures of 4/10.
Buttler's batting fireworks
England knew they would have to win convincingly if they were to secure their semi-final spot themselves without having to wait for the result of the remaining group game - and even more so if they wanted to be in with a chance of topping the group.
And so it proved, with captain Buttler leading the way. His 83 off just 38 balls was a sensational knock, most notably hitting five sixes off one Harmeet over to close in on the win.
Salt gave solid support with his 25 off 21.
