Injury forces change to Scotland's WCWCQ 2025 plans

Scotland have made a chance to their squad for the remainder of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier.

Scotland have brought in Kirsty McColl as a replacement for all-rounder Darcey Carter in the Scotland squad, approved by the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier.

Nineteen-year-old Kirsty McColl, who is yet to make her international debut, joins the squad at a pivotal moment, following their impressive win over the West Indies in their opening match of the Qualifier on Wednesday.

Hayley Matthews gave it all for the West Indies, but eventually Scotland took the game on the back of a brilliant bowling display in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025.

Carter has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an injury to her right hand. The batter made 25 off 48 in the campaign opener and picked up the wicket of Windies opener Qiana Joseph for a duck in her very first over.

As per tournament regulations, any player replacement requires formal approval from the Event Technical Committee before the new player can be officially added to the squad.

The Scots delivered a commanding all-round performance, to take a thrilling 11-run win despite a spirited Hayley Matthews fighting her way through to an unbeaten hundred.
