Chinelle Henry being assessed after ball strikes her in the face

West Indies star Chinelle Henry will continue to undergo medical assessment after being struck in the face by the ball during Friday’s semi-final against New Zealand.

Henry suffered the injury when attempting to take a catch on the boundary during the second semi-final at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Sharjah.

The ball burst through her hands and struck her on the forehead, and the 29-year-old received on-field medical attention as her teammates watched on with concern.

Henry was helped from the field of play and did not return during the remainder of New Zealand’s first innings, and was replaced in the second innings under the concussion substitution rule. Chedean Nation replaced Henry in the XI, coming in at number eight.

Henry had already bowled her full allocation of overs at the time of the incident, playing her part in a controlled start, bowling four overs on the bounce at the start of the game and conceding 24 runs.
