England lose captain Heather Knight to injury in West Indies match
England suffered a major injury setback as captain Heather Knight was forced to retire hurt against West Indies.
England captain Knight left the field of play with a calf injury during Tuesday’s match against West Indies in Dubai, with the game still in the balance.
Knight had looked in great touch, reaching 21 off just 13 balls of the decisive match in Group B, before calling for the physio and subsequently retiring hurt.
The 33-year-old has endured injury issues in the past and missed the Commonwealth Games in 2022 after undergoing hip surgery.
Knight was unable to take to the field with England in the second innings, replaced by Sophia Dunkley. And she could only watch on as her side slipped to a tournament-ending loss.
Defeat saw England miss out on qualification, with South Africa and West Indies progressing from Group B.
