India set new Test batting records in Kanpur 

India achieved a couple of remarkable records during the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

On day four of the second Test match against Bangladesh, India smashed the record for the fastest team hundred and fastest team double hundred in Test cricket.

The team reached 50 runs in just three overs courtesy of explosive starts from Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The duo stitched a 55-run partnership with Rohit smashing 19 runs off just six balls, including three sixes, and Jaiswal racing to 30 runs from only 13 deliveries to create the record for the fastest team fifty in just three overs.

Despite the early loss of Rohit Sharma, India’s aggressive onslaught continued as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill powered the team to the fastest team hundred in Test cricket history.

India achieved this goal in just 10.1 overs breaking their own world record from 2023 where they reached hundred in 12.2 overs against West Indies in Port of Spain.

India's aggressive batting continued as Virat Kohli scored 47 off 35 balls and KL Rahul added 68 off 43 balls, propelling the team to another record. With this performance, India shattered the record for the fastest team score of 200 in Test cricket, achieving the milestone in just 24.2 overs. The previous record was held by Australia, who reached 200 runs in 28.1 overs against Pakistan in Sydney in 2017.

Additionally, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja became the second-fastest player in Test cricket to achieve the double milestone of 3,000 runs and 300 wickets, trailing only England’s Ian Botham. Jadeja reached this milestone in 74 Tests, just behind Ian Botham's 72, becoming the 11th player worldwide to accomplish this remarkable feat.

He is the third Indian to achieve this unique record, joining the ranks of Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin. In reaching 300 Test wickets, he also became the fourth-fastest Indian to achieve the milestone of 300 wickets, following Ashwin (54 matches), Anil Kumble (66), and Harbhajan Singh (72).
